Location Hybrid – The role will involve community and home-based support which consists of prison visitation, community work and home-based remote engagement when supporting customers.
Salary £25,664 + excellent benefits
Hours 35 hours per week (flexible working)

We’re looking for a motivated and compassionate person to join The Wise Group as a Mentor, delivering our Beyond Custody service at HMP Addiewell, in partnership with Sodexo.
This is a throughcare mentoring role, providing one-to-one support to men before and after release from custody. You’ll build trust, coordinate practical help, and walk alongside customers as they take steps to rebuild their lives in the community.
About the Service
The Wise Group Mentoring Service at HMP Addiewell provides end-to-end support, up to three months in custody and eight months in the community to help people prepare for liberation and sustain change after release.
We support individuals across all sentence type including remand prisoner. Our mentoring is holistic and person-led, focused on housing, recovery, employability, health, finances, family, and wellbeing. Mentors also provide release-day support, helping ensure a smooth transition from custody to community.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver relational mentoring within HMP Addiewell and in the community
- Support customers to develop and follow their Personal Action Plan
- Provide practical and emotional support before, on, and after the day of release
- Build strong relationships with Sodexo, prison departments, and community services
- Contribute to a service that reduces reoffending and promotes stability, recovery, and hope
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Empathic, dependable, and passionate about helping people change their lives
- Able to build trust quickly and maintain professional boundaries
- Skilled at problem-solving, with the initiative to coordinate support across multiple needs
- Organised, reflective, and values-driven
A full driving licence and daily access to a car is essential, as travel is a core part of the role.
A home broadband connection is required for remote working.
